Guide scope viewing options for Newtonian

If you're looking for a finder scope you can purchase a Telrad finder

Or a Rigel Finder scope

If you decide to go with one of these, they will have to be placed close to the open end of the tube, you may still need to use a small step ladder.

Or you can add a star diagonal to your existing finder scope, you may not need a step ladder if the finder scope is long enough. However, the longer the finder scope gets, the darker and narrower the field of view becomes.

How well does your mount track? What's the longest exposure that you have been able to take without noticing the stars start to streak?

I recently was given a Cave Astrola 10" newtonian. It was at the curb down the street nearby. It kind sucked me into the hobby a few weeks ago. I had the mirrors recoated and built rings to replace the bands for easier tube rotation. I bought a ZWO1678MC camera so I don't need a ladder to reach the eye piece. The camera works well but I need to learn more about imaging, stacking etc. In the meantime my challenge is craning my neck to see out the sighting scope. A mirror would help, but I'm not sure I could then get focus at the eyepiece. The I.D. of the spotting scope eyepiece mount is 0.96". Was that some sort of standard? The Cave is from the '70s.
